Average review: 3.5/5.0 (7 reviews) I was pleasantly surprised to see the label release a domestic maxi containing some of the dance mixes of "Cry Me A River." The track listing for the release is decidely more focused on the dance treatments as opposed to those god-awful rap collaborations that currently exist of the new single by JT. The release features Dirty Vegas and Junior's treatments of "CMAR" and the Deep Dish and Basement Jaxx full-on remixes of "Like I Love You."
The Junior mix is the stand-out mix so far(not available on the import releases.) I haven't been able to hear the Hamel or Fiasco mixes, but the Dirty Vegas mix seems vocally sluggish and loses the chorus.
I'm always excited when a big player in the biz releases singles geared toward the dance audience. Congrats to the label on this release!

The Basement Jaxx mix of LILY is brilliant - Deep Dish also turned in a hot mix... (J.R., 2/10/2003 see all my reviews >> )
This is a descent single. And for those Junior Vasquez fans out there, there is a domestic single out there that has his Earth Club Mix. In fact, they are:
1. Cry Me A River - Album Version 4:48
2. Cry Me A River - Instrumental 4:47
3. Cry Me A River - Dirty Vegas Vocal Mix 8:11
4. Cry Me A River - Junior's Earth Club Mix 6:43
5. Like I Love You - Basement Jaxx Vocal Mix 6:04
6. Like I Love You - Deep Dish ZigZag Remix 9:40
But the Bill Hamel Vocal Remix of Cry Me A River is by far the best. Lynn in DC (L.M., 2/27/2003 see all my reviews >> )
All right... This is my first time reviewing something. I felt the need to. Where's the domestic, guys? While all of these import releases are decent, the recently released domestic offers most of these remixes together on one CD. The domestic also features a Junior Vasquez remix unavailable anywhere else.
As far as the remixes go, Dirty Vegas continue their trend of color-by-numbers remixes (First came the "Blah. Who cares?" mix of "Die Another Day"... Now this.) Stick to original productions, guys. The Johnny Fiasco and Bill Hamel remixes are slightly better with a bit more bounce and step to them. Junior's version isn't bad either. None are anthemic, though, people, so don't expect anything amazing.
The hype here is all about "Like I Love You". Both Deep Dish and Basement Jaxx turned out some great mixes. The Deep Dish Zigzag Remix has the edge simply 'cause it's longer and has a lot of cool filters and sound effects. Basement Jaxx do a decent job with it, but I would've liked something a little more experimental and Basement Jaxx-like.
All in all, "Cry Me A River" is a phenomenal song that doesn't translate very well into club fare. Take note, deejays. I'd prefer to hear the original in a club rather than these formulaic mixes. (J.D., 2/22/2003 see all my reviews >> )
I heard a "Cry me a River" remix that samples the Dazz Band's "Let it Whip." Where can I find that? I was soooo disappointed it wasn't on the single! (C.H., 2/24/2003 see all my reviews >> )
Okay, I am kinda divided on the mixes of "Cry Me A River" that they chose to put on this release. The Dirty Vegas remix is good, but not that good. The other mix is a big yawnfest also. The real reason you should fork over the $$ is for the Basement Jaxx remix of "Like I Love You" which finally graces a single(FINALLY!!). (S.L., 2/10/2003 see all my reviews >> )
Yawn, yawn, yawn. Good mixes, boring song. (T.O., 3/13/2003 see all my reviews >> )
