I don't think I can say too many things about this album, but don't think that I won't try. It's everything that I wish clubbing in West Hollywood could be again - a seamless blend of house and trance that mingle together to create a composition that hits hard, hits dream, hits peak, hits deep, and hits the mark with every single track. Of course my shallow self passed judgment immediately based on the exterior -- the cover photo is hideous. DJ Mike Cow's a little cutie, but the color correction and retouching either didn't happen or was done with the intention suggesting jaundice. But while in the store I heard a song that made my ears prick up immediately (Track 11), and decided if it had one good song maybe there'll be at least one other. The disc is flawless - part of the excitement comes from the fact that most of these songs I've never heard before, which for me is always a thrill as at least a good 80% of the compilations out there just feel like rooms being rearranged with the same old dusty furniture that remains present only because it's just so damn reliable. But that novelty is far from the selling point, the artist track listing is total capable of some respectable name dropping, like Jes Brieden, Steve Porter, N'Dea Davenport, ATFC, Noel Sanger and Joi Cardwell, not to mention a song titled "Always" that is essentially just a cleverly disguised bootleg mix of Britney Spears' "Everytime" (everytime... always... get it?) . Personal favorites on the disc include "Ghost" by Deepsky feat. Jes [Briden], the aforementioned "Always", "My Prayer" by Noel Sanger feat. Dauby and Pete Heller's mix of "Flow" by Vinny Troia presents Jaidene Veda, but everything in between is beautiful, too. This is the first album in a long time that I played from beginning to end without feeling the need to skip ahead and about which I was excited for each new track just to see what "he'd come with next". Curve Recordings is a fetal label, but if this album is any indication, I think we may have a rising star of the dance music genre in the works.
